SINGLE FAMILY
2022
The clints brief was to enlarge this quaint farm house style home to include a larger kitchen with attached dining room, convert the existing garage into a family room, reorganize the second floors existing three bedrooms and one bath, add a master bedroom suite and two car garage. The existing farm house presented a challenge of very low head height on the first floor. To give the illusion of height the structure was exposed adding to the visual height of the space. The low floor to floor height made it difficult to provide adequate ceiling height on the first floor while aligning the floors of the second floor. Non-habitable spaces like the pantry, closets and hallway from the garage to the kitchen were place along these areas with low ceilings while the kitchen and dining room were added beyond the second floor area allowing for taller ceilings in those spaces. The renovation was constructed by the Platt Tech High School carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC students over a two year period.
